SAN DIEGO, July 10, 2014 – Tapestry Solutions has been awarded a contract for the development of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Load Planning Tool, which supports load planning capability for Canberra Class Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) ships – the largest ships ever built by the Royal Australian Navy. These 27,000-ton ships are currently being built to support contingency, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance operations, allowing for a sophisticated air-land-sea amphibious deployment system.
The Load Planning Tool will be utilized to load personnel, helicopters, landing craft, engineering equipment, cargo trucks, and vehicles. This capability will allow the RAN to determine the best loading location and sequence for equipment and supplies to facilitate employment at the amphibious mission area of operations.
The Load Planning Tool provides a state of the art method for the most efficient and effective load planning and execution available through automated information extraction, visualization, in-transit cargo visibility, and distribution forecasting and planning, and through utilization of intelligent agent and business intelligence technologies.
“This partnership will supply the RAN with load planning capabilities that will be official in managing their complex deployment operations. We look forward to implementing this tool and providing value to its users,” said Tony Rigazzi, Vice President, Defense Product Group.
This multi-million dollar, multi-year contract also includes additional license and support options.
