SAN DIEGO, July 29, 2016 – Tapestry Solutions, Inc., a non-fully integrated subsidiary of Boeing [NSYE: BA], has promoted Dr. Jens Pohl to the position of Vice President of Engineering and Technology. He will be based at Tapestry’s San Luis Obispo, Calif., office.
Over the past 25 years, Dr. Pohl has directed contracts in excess of $200 million involving the design, development and implementation of intelligent decision-support systems for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Dr. Pohl joined Tapestry Solutions in 2010 as Senior Director of Adaptive Products and Systems division following Boeing’s acquisition of CDM Technologies, Inc., a privately held software firm in San Luis Obispo specializing in real-time transportation and logistics planning systems for the U.S. military.
Tapestry’s Adaptive Products and Systems division is best known for its enhancements of Integrated Computerized Deployment System (ICODES), which is used by U.S. joint forces for real-time planning and tracking of cargo movements via air, ocean, rail and truck.
Dr. Pohl was promoted to his new position following a two-month role as the interim Vice President of Engineering and Technology.
“Jens has done an exemplary job of building trust, establishing relationships and developing strategies to address our most pressing engineering challenges – setting Tapestry on a path for success. Based on his performance and leadership, we are pleased to welcome Jens into this permanent position,” said Geoff Evans, President and CEO, Tapestry Solutions.
In his new role, Dr. Pohl will lead corporate initiatives to propel Tapestry into the next stage of growth, with a focus on identifying and integrating new technologies that will provide customers with superior logistics and planning solutions for their operations.
“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to lead the Engineering and Technology organization at an exciting time when technology is advancing on a daily basis,” said Dr. Pohl. “With our current systems in place worldwide, we are very well poised to leverage IoT [Internet of Things] technologies – the next frontier of the digital revolution – that will transform the way our customers do business.”
Dr. Pohl (emeritus) retired from the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo) in 2010. He held the positions of Professor of Architecture, Executive Director of the Collaborative Agent Design Research Center (CADRC), Director of the Knowledge Management Laboratory (KML Center) at Scott AFB, and Graduate Studies Coordinator, in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design.
He received his formal education in Australia with degrees in Architecture and Architectural Science: Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) from the University of Melbourne in 1965), Master of Building Science (M.Bdg.Sc.) and Ph.D. from the University of Sydney in 1967 and 1970, respectively.
